Creating Master Images
Step 3
Installing the license file (license.vbk)
The VitalSourceTM Library contains a wealth of valuable electronic resources, many of which are currently protected under copyright law. To help ensure that the rights associated with these documents are properly managed, the VitalSourceTM Bookshelf application will associate each copy of the Library with the machine used during registration. If your users each received a license code on their CD or DVD, they will use this during registration, and you can skip step 3 of this process.
If your users do not receive a license code then you will need to request a special license file from VitalSource. This file controls what content your students will be able to access and how they will finish the registration process. Your final step in setting up the VitalSourceTM Library on your image is obtaining and placing this license file correctly. Please contact your sales representative, or email sales@VitalSource.com for instructions on how to receive this file (This process may take 5-7 business days).
Upon receipt of the license.vbk file you will need to
create the appropriate destination path for the content on your master
image. The license will be placed in a special location, insuring that
all users of that image will be able to use the license.
For Windows users, create the following path (adding one directory to the path created above):
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Shared Books\VitalSourceTM Bookshelf\User Data
For Macintosh users, create the following path (adding one directory to the path created above):
/Users/Shared/Books/VitalSourceTM Bookshelf/User Data
You must place the license.vbk file you receive in the User Data folder you created above.
